Marian's Story

The ChangeMakers were excited to be on the scene, bright and early, to set up and cheer at the 19th edition of the Make To Make Cystic Fibrosis History annual walkathon! Participants across Canada raised awareness and much-needed funds for research helping those with CF live longer and healthier lives.

Our team is composed of young professionals who provide regular logistical and on-site support for community events and fundraisers such as walkathons, dragon boat races, and marathons. Our experience with the CF team was exceptional given how organized the coordinators were and their clear passion for the cause!

After a volunteer briefing, our team put on our very fashionable fluorescent safety vests and got to work setting up the inflatable starting arch, craft and game kiosks, and food and water stations. We thrive on the energy of community events, and are proud to contribute to their smooth functioning. It was so heartening to see the small superheroes walking, surrounded by supportive family members.

So much attention went into making this community event meaningful- from the singer who spoke about his own challenges with the disease and his determination to overcome it, to the CF team who exhibited such gratitude to the volunteers, to cheerleaders blowing bubbles representing lung health, and inspirational hope message boards.

Our team is looking forward to next year’s 20th edition of the walk, to truly make cystic fibrosis history. Will you join us?
